Botanical Information
- Botanical Name: Hoya carnosa 'Krimson Princess'
- Common Name(s): Porcelain Flower, Wax Plant, Honey Plant
Plant Characteristics
This Hoya variety features cascading vines adorned with variegated leaves that display a unique color-changing characteristic. The foliage responds to light exposure by intensifying its pink coloration, serving as a visual indicator of proper care. The waxy texture of the leaves gives this plant its common name and contributes to its low-maintenance nature.
Light Requirements
The Hoya carnosa 'Krimson Princess' thrives in bright indirect light. The amount of light directly influences the intensity of pink variegation in the foliage - more bright indirect light produces more vibrant pink tones. Direct sunlight should be avoided as it can damage the leaves and cause scorching.
Care Level

Its forgiving nature makes it an excellent choice for those new to plant care or anyone seeking a low-maintenance indoor vine.
Growth Habit
As a vining plant, the Hoya carnosa 'Krimson Princess' produces long trailing stems that can be displayed in hanging baskets or trained to climb a support structure. The cascading growth pattern creates an attractive display as the variegated foliage drapes gracefully.
Pet Safety
The Hoya carnosa 'Krimson Princess' is non-toxic to pets, making it a safe choice for households with cats and dogs. This feature, combined with its air-purifying qualities, makes it an ideal addition to any indoor space.
Air Purification
Like other Hoya varieties, the 'Krimson Princess' contributes to improved indoor air quality by filtering airborne toxins, creating a healthier living environment.
