Begonia 'Frosty' - Everblooming White Flowering Houseplant

Begonia 'Frosty' - Everblooming White Flowering Houseplant

Begonia 'Frosty' (Begonia 'Don Miller') is a bushy, everblooming houseplant that produces continuous single white flowers throughout the growing season. This compact begonia features distinctive bronze leaves that are shiny, smooth, and ovate in shape, creating an attractive contrast with its white blooms. The succulent stems grow in an erect, bushy habit, making it an excellent choice for both containers and hanging baskets.

Key Features

This begonia stands out for its exceptional blooming performance and adaptability. The white flowers appear continuously, providing year-round visual interest. The bronze foliage adds depth and richness to any indoor space, while the plant's compact growth habit makes it suitable for smaller areas or grouped arrangements.

Unlike many houseplants that require indirect light, Begonia 'Frosty' tolerates full sun conditions, giving you more flexibility in placement. The succulent stems store moisture, contributing to the plant's resilience.

Care Requirements

Maintain moist soil conditions for optimal growth. Peat-based compost works particularly well for this begonia variety. The plant thrives in humid environments, so consider placing it in naturally humid rooms or use a humidity tray. Keep away from cold drafts and temperatures, as this tropical plant prefers warm conditions.

For a bushier appearance, pinch growing tips and prune outer stems during the active growing season. This pruning technique encourages fuller growth and makes the plant especially attractive in hanging baskets. Regular removal of dead foliage helps prevent disease and keeps the plant looking its best.

Display Options

The compact, bushy nature of Begonia 'Frosty' makes it versatile for various display methods. Use it as a standalone specimen on tabletops or windowsills, or showcase it in hanging baskets where the flowers and foliage can cascade naturally. The bronze leaves and white flowers create an elegant color combination that complements both modern and traditional interiors.
