Ficus Lyrata 'Fiddle Leaf Fig' Houseplant
The Ficus lyrata, commonly known as the Fiddle Leaf Fig, features distinctive violin-shaped leaves with green, leathery, and shiny surfaces marked by pale veins. Native to tropical western Africa's lowland forests, this resilient houseplant adapts to various indoor environments while maintaining its signature architectural presence.
Growth and Placement
This Ficus lyrata thrives in bright indirect sunlight and grows up to 6 feet tall when placed on the ground. The large, fiddle-shaped leaves create a bold visual statement, making it ideal for corners, entryways, and spaces that need vertical interest. Despite its tropical forest origins, this plant adjusts well to indoor conditions with proper care.
Care Requirements
Keep the soil consistently moist without waterlogging. Position your Fiddle Leaf Fig where it receives bright indirect sunlight throughout the day. The plant's leathery leaves naturally resist some environmental stress, but consistent watering and light conditions produce the best growth and leaf development.
Bare Root Shipping Format
This Fiddle Leaf Fig ships as a bare root plant without pot or soil. Our bare root houseplants are raised in nursery pots but harvested and de-soiled before shipping, offering better value and lighter shipping costs compared to potted plants. Plant your bare root Ficus lyrata using standard repotting methods. For optimal root establishment, plant during spring or summer when the plant is actively growing. Winter planting is possible with strong grow lights, as plants enter dormancy during colder months and establish roots more slowly.
Important Safety Information

Additional Details | Bare Root Houseplants
Our Bare Roots houseplants are raised in nursery pots but are harvested (de-soiled) for bare root orders. They are great value since they are cheaper than potted plants and they are easier/lighter to ship! Use the same method that you would use to repot your Houseplants to plant Bare Root houseplants; however, we recommend planting during spring/summer, since plants are dormant during winter so they are less likely to establish strong roots unless you have strong Grow lights.
