This unique combination pairs a living Tillandsia Ionantha air plant with an authentic green sea urchin shell base. The vibrant green urchin shell serves as both a decorative holder and stable base, measuring approximately 2" wide by 1.5" high. The Ionantha air plant sits securely in the natural curves of the shell, creating a compact display piece that requires minimal care.
Air Plant and Shell Specifications
The Tillandsia Ionantha air plant measures approximately 1.5" in height and features silvery-green leaves that may develop red or pink hues when blooming. Sea urchin shells provide natural drainage and air circulation, making them ideal vessels for air plants. The shell's texture and color complement the plant's organic form while keeping it upright and steady on any flat surface.
Low Maintenance Care Requirements
Air plants absorb moisture and nutrients through their leaves rather than roots. Mist your Tillandsia 2-3 times per week, or soak it in water for 20-30 minutes weekly. After watering, shake off excess moisture and return the plant to its shell base. Place in bright, indirect light near a window. The compact 2" size fits on desks, shelves, windowsills, or bathroom counters where humidity naturally supports air plant health.
Natural Shell Base Design
Each green sea urchin shell is a natural product with unique patterns and color variations. The shell's structure provides stability while allowing air circulation around the plant. The small footprint makes this arrangement suitable for limited spaces where traditional potted plants won't fit. The shell requires no special care and won't deteriorate with proper air plant maintenance.
Gift-Ready Plant Presentation
This air plant and shell combination arrives ready to display. The self-contained design needs no pot, soil, or additional accessories. The 2" size ships easily and makes an appropriate gift for plant enthusiasts, office workers, students, or anyone with limited growing space. The Ionantha variety is among the hardiest Tillandsia species, suitable for beginners.
