Cotton Candy Fern - Nephrolepis Exaltata
The Cotton Candy Fern (Nephrolepis exaltata) stands out with its exceptionally soft, fluffy light-green fronds that create a cloud-like appearance. Also known as the Fluffy Ruffle Fern or Suzi Wong fern, this houseplant features delicate leaves that flare upward and outward as they mature, creating a dramatic cascading effect perfect for hanging baskets and pedestal displays.
Growth and Size
This fern reaches impressive proportions at full maturity, growing up to 5 feet tall. The vibrant green foliage creates a lush, tropical atmosphere in any indoor space. Its naturally arching growth habit makes it an excellent choice for elevated displays where the fronds can cascade freely.
Care Requirements
Like most ferns, the Cotton Candy Fern thrives in partial shade with indirect sunlight. Direct sun exposure can scorch the delicate fronds, so position it in a location with filtered light. It prefers moderate indoor temperatures and consistent moisture levels. The soil should remain moist but well-drained to prevent root rot while maintaining the humidity levels this fern needs to flourish.
Ideal Display Options
The Cotton Candy Fern's soft, fluffy texture and vibrant green color make it a popular choice for various display methods. Hanging baskets showcase the cascading fronds beautifully, while pedestal stands create dramatic focal points. The light-green foliage adds a fresh, airy quality to any room.

Additional Details | Bare Root Houseplants
Our Bare Roots houseplants are raised in nursery pots but are harvested (de-soiled) for bare root orders. They are great value since they are cheaper than potted plants and they are easier/lighter to ship! Use the same method that you would use to repot your Houseplants to plant Bare Root houseplants; however, we recommend planting during spring/summer, since plants are dormant during winter so they are less likely to establish strong roots unless you have strong Grow lights.
