Rattlesnake Plant Calathea Lancifolia

Striking Spotted Foliage with Living, Moving Leaves — The Rattlesnake Plant

The Rattlesnake Plant (Calathea lancifolia) is one of the most visually dramatic houseplants you can grow indoors. Its long, strappy leaves feature bold dark green spots on a lighter green background, with deep purple undersides that reveal themselves as the leaves move throughout the day. Like all Calathea (prayer plants), the leaves rise and fold in response to light — a mesmerizing daily ritual that makes this plant as fascinating as it is beautiful.

A Tropical Statement Plant for Low-Light Spaces

Native to the tropical rainforests of South and Central America, the Rattlesnake Plant is adapted to thrive in indirect light — making it ideal for rooms that don't get direct sun. It loves humidity and consistent moisture, rewarding attentive care with lush, upright growth that commands attention on any shelf, table, or plant stand.
