Japanese Kokedama Moss Ball | Living Hanging Houseplant

Japanese Living Art for Your Home — Moss Ball Hanging Houseplant with No Pot Required

Kokedama is a traditional Japanese living art form — a ball of soil covered with natural moss that supports an ornamental plant. This ancient technique combines nearai bonsai and kusamono planting styles, creating a suspended garden that brings natural beauty to any indoor space without requiring a traditional pot. Choose from 6 plant varieties: Brasil Philodendron, Ivy, Jester Crown Fern, Pothos N’Joy, Pilea, and Golden Pothos.

• No Pot Needed: The living moss ball is both the planter and the design element — a true conversation piece
• 6 Plant Varieties: Brasil, Ivy, Jester Crown Fern, Pothos N’Joy, Pilea, and Golden Pothos — each with its own character
• Simple Dunk Watering: Submerge the moss ball every 1–2 weeks — no watering can needed, no guesswork
• Vertical Display: Hang in windows, corners, above shelves, or group together for a living wall effect
• Space-Saving Design: Ideal for apartments, offices, and homes with limited floor space
• Biophilic Aesthetic: Complements minimalist, bohemian, and nature-inspired interiors beautifully
• Living Moss Exterior: Regulates moisture, allows roots to breathe, and develops character over time

Care Instructions

• Step 1: Submerge the moss ball portion into water — ensure foliage is not submerged
• Step 2: Soak for 1–2 minutes or until bubbling stops
• Step 3: Gently squeeze out excess water and place in a colander for 30 minutes to prevent dripping
• Step 4: Hang in a medium-light zone and mist moss every 4–5 days — moss prefers slight dampness at all times
• Tip: Moss will turn brown if underwatered or overwatered — vibrant green means healthy moisture levels
• Tip: If the ball feels light, it’s time to water. Weigh it right after watering and again a week later to learn your plant’s rhythm
